Fun, Interactive Presentation Ideas.

Project: Educate the class/raise awareness on the issue (Child Labor) by conducting a 65 minute lesson and preparing a 3 page report. Also, I need some ideas on how to narrow down the topic. I was thinking "Child Labor in India", but I feel that is still a little to general. Finally, what would I need to have, (like statistics, facts, etc?) .

Other Expectations:
– Informative and Creative (use of technology, highly recommended)
- Class Discussion (I was thinking a debate…not sure though, any ideas?)
- 1 small group activity
- a lesson plan (template)
and handouts

- This account for 30% of our final mark, because we have no exam.

So, my question is… if the 11-year-old had been doing a report on "gel bracelets" in December 2009, such as those promoted by the Lance Armstong Foundation and the group Make Poverty History, thanks to an infobox at the bottom of the "gel bracelets" article, the 11-year-old may readily have clicked to articles about "Donkey punch", "Gerbilling", "Rainbow party", and the really lovely "Soggy biscuit".

An earlier post here resulted in that info template being removed from the gel bracelets article, thankfully. But the point is, that template had been sitting there since July 30, 2008, thanks to User:Benjiboi (take a look at some of his edits, sometime). The article’s been viewed about 12,000 to 14,000 times a month ( http://stats.grok.se/en/200808/gel_bracelet ). How many of those views were 11-year-olds writing a "little short paper for class", who now know all about donkey punches and rainbow parties.

I say that this is NOT wholly the responsibility of "the parents" to stay on top of. Parents are certainly mostly responsible, but not "wholly". If Jimmy Wales, the co-founder of the tax-advantaged project, is saying that his encyclopedia is "wonderful" for an 11-year-old, then when my 11-year-old is exposed to donkey punches and worse at an age that’s inappropriate, if not illegal, for me to be exposing them to this, then I say it is high time that Jimmy Wales and his inept Foundation start taking responsibility and living up to their promotional hype.
Additionally, I am unable to find any white supremacy literature or porn magazines that are 501-c-3, tax-advantaged organizations. So, to compare those types of websites with Wikipedia is not really germane to this discussion.

Short answer: Yes, for a number of reasons, including the gratuitously sexually explicit content, Wikipedia is definitely inappropriate for 11-year-olds. Period.

Longer answer: The sorry truth is that Wikipedia is inappropriate for the participation of people of ANY age, even for those for whom exposure to sexually explicit material is not a real issue. As science educator Dr. Barry Kort puts it: "Wikipedia is a crazy-making place, an ungrounded cloud-cuckooland that I fear is beyond salvation or redemption." Worse still, Wikipedia exploits those with mental illnesses and addictive personalities without scruple or pity in the name of "free culture", providing the world with "the sum total of human knowledge" and That Kid in Africa. The deception here is probably mostly, if not entirely, unintentional, but that does not make it any less cruel.

Since June of 2008, I was in charge of the technical issues for suppliers. Firstly, I explained all the technical details such as test standards, dimension specification, symbols of drawings etc to the project members, measurement engineers, test engineers of suppliers, and a Q & A session was held with them. At the meantime, based on the knowledge of statistics and probability theory, I calculated the formula which can meet the 0 PPM quality request proposed by quality department, and designed a template by excel with colleagues from IT department, which can produce the statistical results of dimension report automatically. From then on, Mould experts, Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) and I involved in the mould trial in suppliers plant, and I required them to measure the outcomes by Three-coordinate measure instrument (CMM) and provide dimension reports.

When i am running this file in my browser, it show perfectly with all result me is wanted, and it also can sending the mail to me completely.

But once i try to run it using crontab command to schedule it to be running every minute, it can sending the mail to me but din show any record to me..

I’m participating in a college probation and parole class.

I have a project that I have to create a parole report to give a recommendation on whether or not an inmate can be let loose on parole.
We are given a bio of an offender that includes his past criminal history, family backround, ect…

The person used this time was a template used earlier in the semester. That time it was whether or not he was supposed to be put on probation or not. Everythings exactly the same except this time I am coming from the perspective he was sentenced to jail and is serving time.

Is it cheating if I use elements from my previous report (which I could literally cut and paste some sections) to put into this one? I’d basically be writing down the same info anyways. I’m thinking no, since I would be copying from myself it wouldn’t be considered plagerisim.

What do you think?
I might think it’s not wrong but I can be wrong. I don’t want to mess myself up since if it is cheating it is an automatic fail grade for the entire semester.

If you are literally going to lift sections you wrote before and paste them into the new paper, that would be plagiarism by most colleges’ standards, unless you cite to your own work. Everything you do for a grade must be original work or must be cited.
If you really are unsure, I suggest asking your prof or T.A.

Please, I only want input from teachers (current or retired). I am a software developer (web applications) and I working on a personal project to help me learn a new type of programming (windows applications). I have an idea for some software that will help out teachers keep track of all the things they do in a class room. I know that there are several types of programs out there already but this is more-or-less for me to learn windows application development.

My idea is to create a program where teachers can keep track of student assignments, scores, grades, syllabus etc. I have designed it to allow a teacher to have several courses that they teach each semester/year (like Geometry and Trig) and then assign a homework/quiz template that is for that type of course. They then, each semester, create classes for them (like 2 classes of Geometry, and 1 class of Trig). Each will have their own assignment lists based on the course template and the teacher can then add students to the class. The teacher can then print out a syllabus that is specific to that class with due dates, requirements, etc.

The problem that I am having is that I only have a general idea of what a teacher needs to keep track of and what kind of reports the teacher needs to get. This is solely based on a student’s perspective. I want to know what other information teachers need to keep track of, and what kind of reports they would need. I want to make this flexible enough for primary school teachers (elementry, junior high and high school) as well as continued education teachers (college and university). I do not know what kind of information pre-school teachers keep track of, so if you do have education requirements, I would appreciate them too.

If you have a specialty like special education or something else, your input would be greatly appreciated. I do not think this will rock the teacher software industry and I have no idea if I can even complete it since I have full-time work, but this is the best idea I have right now for a software application.

I am helping an 8 year old with his school project. He is doing a bunch of different projects for book reports. He is in the 2nd grade, we have been asked to make a bookmark. It needs to have enough room to draw a picture on one side and tell about the story on the opposite. I have not been able to find any templates on the web that are helping me. If anyone can find info. to help me or even give me some good dimensions about sizing that would be great.
By saying sizing, I am meaning the average size of a bookmark. He hasn’t decided which book he will be reading to go along with this book, but I want him to make up his own concepts for his pictures but thank you for wanting to help him out.

Make it like 4 inches wide X 8 inches long.

Also, how can we as consumers trust that the (red) project is helping the AIDS crisis when the shirts are manufactured by 10 year-olds in poverty-stricken areas?

Of course they knew but it’s all about their company making more money. If they had to pay adults, their profit margin would be lower. All we can do is not buy from the GAP.

In my office we do some much work with Ms. Word and we prepare so many reports and project works. Now i wanted to know how to create different Headers & Footer with one documents (Example: 1 to 10 pages : Yahoo and company i want & from 11 to 20 pages : Question & Answers) like this, can any one plz tell me how to create different Headers and Footers in single Document. My friend told me to, it is possible with Ms. Word "Templetes" whether its true or false. If its true then how to use "Templetes". If its false please tell me the process.

Templates sound like the solution you are looking for. A template is just that. It’s a pre-defined document, with basic layout features. You just fill in the rest. Create a document, not including the actual report text, etc. Just the layout, and you should be able to click File->Save/Save As, and in the "File Type" box, select "Document Template". Then, when you create a new document, select the template from the list.

Templates are what you see when you create a new document. The different tabs, like "Reports", "General", etc. =)
