Probably not a lot of them. I worked in the field for many years – most projects took up MORE than 40 hours a week, not less. And since it’s pretty standard for people to want projects completed yesterday, not likely to find a lot of people who are willing to have part-time project management.

That said, sometimes a small business who needs something done will hire someone part-time to do their project – often someone working this as a side job. But then you’re usually not just project manager, you’re a one-person project team and do the implementation work as well as the project management.

How do you copy the Tracking Gantt View of a project displayed by Microsoft
Project 2003 and to insert it as a picture into a Word document?

Please give a step to step on how this is done

Thanks

In MSP2003: Locate the "Copy Picture" icon on your toolbar (looks like a camera) and/or View->Toolbar->Analysis locate the "Copy Picture to Office Wizard" button.

In MSP2007: Report->Copy Picture, or use the analysis toolbar button as described for MSP2003

I guess, the title of my question tells it all. I have a web development firm, with a small team of 14 and age of just 2.5 years, we have done some very great projects in this short span.

Till now I had a help from a couple of friends who had lodes of experience in this domain, but now I guess I am on my own as they are busy with their work.
So I wanted to see if I could get some helpful tips/idea/advice as to what I could do to take Control of the full 9 yards. I have no technical background, the problem areas in the full project life cycle, from Business development, (as in reaching a client to getting his work) to executing the project and a timely delivery; I feel is the project management roll.
I would like to learn and enhance my skills, so I could get involved in doing the following things:
1.Responding to RFPs, i.e. preparing full scale proposals.
2.Technical client meeting/ requirement gathering.
3.Documenting the client requirements.
4.Articulating the requirements, first level of presentations, like wire framing and mock-ups(with my designers of course)
5.Preparing a development plan for the in-house developers
6.Presenting a Development schedule for the client and the team.
Any short course I could take for me to get help with all of this? I am currently in India.

Yes there are many short project management courses (a week or less) that you could take and would probably find useful. They are available online, but I would recommend in-person training if possible.

There are also some good books about project management. The one I recommend for new project managers is Project Management for Dummies.

Right down all the proceedings you did to complete your project. note the each step and recall the features of each step and write down. take the help of Roger.S.Pressman’s ‘A practioner’s guide to Software Engineering’.

That’s kind of a broad request. What sort of documentation – user? process flow? data flow? general design? detail design? E-R design? state change? UML? etc.

I am doing a project for management consulting firm as part of my interview and I have no idea how businesses / corporations decide on which training programs to use, and how they get to know of such programs. I know a lot of it is by referral, but I am interested in finding out of there are trade shows and other kinds of event marketing that can work. Are there things like Human Resource conferences where HR professionals gather and a marketing event might be a viable form to reach out to them? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Cold calls, brochures and mailings, recommendations from golfing buddies, referrals from others in the industry.

I would say mailings (brochures, and course catalogs) are #1 for us. Some of those mailings come from companies that got our address from the CEO or HR personnel who attended a conference on new HR laws, mixers, trade shows, etc…

If it is a big head shrinking process like an efficiency program with personality profiling or manager communication training, there would be lots of meetings to decide which way to go before making a commitment. Much of the selling would be done in those preliminary planning meetings.

I’m looking for a template (or an easy suggestion) to create a program for a theatre production using office. I have Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop but I am unsure which would be most user-friendly for this type of project.

The program would be an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet folded in half to form a booklet.

The easy way to do two pages on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet is to use Microsoft Word using the standard template. The trick is when you go to print the document use the option in the Print dialog box to print multiple pages per sheet. This option is in the lower right portion of the Print dialog box in the ‘Zoom’ box in Word 2003. For your design use the option to print 2 pages per sheet while using a standard letter (8 1/2 x 11) page size. Try it and see if it gives you the results you want. In Word it is easy to import and manipulate the text and graphics for a theatre program.
